...as Ian is writing his sentences about dragonflies for a school project, he pauses on the word 'insects'. He looks up and me and says, "There is a word inside of that word: in." After another pause, he says, "There is a love word too: sex (sects)." To this I initially laughed. Then I paused and thought how in the world does he know that word AND knows to associate it with love?!?!
And he refused to write the sentence, "Birds kill dragonflies." Because it was too sad. I swear the kid teared up.
